Could also possibly be a '58.
They were nearly identical both years.

any details on the tail that would help identify the year, I could try and get a still showing more of the bootlid and rear bumper...

My understanding has been that there is no external difference between '57 and '58 Eldorado Broughams other than possibly wheel covers. There are one or two interior and engine differences I cannot recall.

I always consider 1957 and 1959 Broughams as the same car with two-year-long model run.

More or less, but I know there are some engine and interior changes that occurred at the model year break.

According to:
http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/cad1950/CAD58E-70.HTM
"The major change for the Eldorado Brougham was seen inside the car. The interior upper door panels were now finished in leather instead of the metal finish used in 1957. New wheel covers also appeared."
As for engine, in 1958 comression ratio was slightly higher...

Factory brochures seem to show the same wheel covers for '57 and '58.

Used to own a 1957 Brougham.
There are no exterior differences between a 57 and a 58 Brougham.
If you open the doors, the hinges are different and the lower chrome trim.
Regarding the metal door cladding of the 57's, I seem to remember that it was the fist 1000 or so that got it.
The carb setup differs, 57 had 2x4 port and the 58 a 3x2 port.
Only thing you could specify was exterior paint and a lot of interior choices (44 )

There is a lot of info to be found here:

From reading at that link, it appears that there there were absolutely no exterior differences between '57 and '58 Eldorado Broughams, even when it came to wheel covers.
So be it.
