John Deere orchard tractor? Some kind of orchard tractor. |

tractor appears right at the beginning of movie and was filmed in Florida http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKNirVRlGQU -- Last edit: 2014-03-06 23:57:24 |

if the green is authentic color in the US it can be 2 things, John Deere OR an Oliver unless I missed someting |

Then probably John Deere, as John Deere orchard tractors are more common than Oliver orchard tractors. |

what makes me a bit hesitant is the oriange bottom , some of the Oliver had such a color see Link to "www.gasenginemagazine.com" http://www.tractorshed.com/gallery/oc05-014.jpg |

Hard to say what it is. I don't see an Oliver or a John Deere just like it. |

Notice the gap between the operator and the fender. The orchard cowl must be missing or there wouldn't be a gap. John Deere orchard tractors usually have their cowl. And this isn't necessarily John Deere green. Oliver 70 orchard tractors sometimes have no cowl. But this isn't necessarily Oliver 70 green. http://www.olivertractors.ca/oliver_paint_colours.htm http://www.vansicklepaint.com/tractor/customcolors/index.php#CustomColors It could be an Oliver 770 orchard tractor with no cowl. http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/6/8/683-oliver-770.html And it appears the 770 was built later than the 660 and the 880 were. -- Last edit: 2014-12-11 23:50:03 |

there is a flaw in your analysis the Oliver 770 orchant had a continues flow from front to rear fender http://www.streamlineworkspace.com/thumbs/item/1024x768/27217/15734/r_1747.jpg Link to "2.bp.blogspot.com" but the one pic is not continues, the rear fender is much higher and wider than the front guard were such tractors also customized ? I mean perhaps not with the cover from the factory but rather aftermarket ? but one point you are right, color does look OLIVER green -- Last edit: 2014-12-11 23:51:36 |

I'm running into the same problem I had before of not finding one that matches. |
◊ 2014-12-12 00:13 |
there might be another option perhaps this is some IMPORT ? |
◊ 2014-12-12 00:22 |
Maybe a newer John Deere like this with orchard fenders and you could put snouts in front of them. |
◊ 2014-12-12 07:10 |
The problem with the theory that it's a 1965-or-newer orchard tractor with orchard fenders and add-on snouts is nobody puts snouts on them. Now my theory is it's a Minneapolis-Moline Jet Star without a cowl painted green but the front end is still brown. -- Last edit: 2014-12-12 18:29:29 |

hmm it seems this moline theory might be true !!! the fender design loogs to match and the flat engine compartment |

Minneapolis-Moline Farm Tractors MBI Publishing Company By Chester Peterson, Jr. and Rod Beemer, 2000 “Boozer's Service and Equipment, Inc. of Winter Haven , Florida, began converting the Jet Star to an Orchard tractor, probably in 1960, to provide Orchard models for the area's citrus grove farmers.” Winter Haven is in central Florida not far from where the movie was made. 1967 Jet Star 3 would be about the newest Minneapolis-Moline orchard tractor found. |

the orange bumper fits Link to "www.minneapolismolinecollectors.org" so this could be essentially a MM with aftermarket body kit and painted green ? |

Some IH tinwork may have the right curve but the snout is integral with the engine side panel. Some Case tinwork may have the right curve but the tractor could be the wrong shape and unlikely to be painted green. It doesn't seem likely it's a green John Deere or Oliver orchard tractor. It doesn't seem likely it's a Ford, Massey Ferguson, Allis-Chalmers. We can speculate it's a Minneapolis-Moline Jet Star (1, 2 or 3) without a cowl with factory tinwork or Boozer tinwork painted green, maybe Oliver meadow green. On the other hand, it could be a John Deere or Oliver with custom-made tinwork. -- Last edit: 2014-12-14 04:48:59 |
