An interesting 'steam' roller. Actually a steamroller chassis adapted to run a large stationary engine with huge flywheels. Note the vehicle on the far left with the very large four cylinder engine. Looks like it might be a Holt?? -- Last edit: 2010-12-15 01:13:31 |

SOLVED this looks like an Austin MFG, notice the 6 bolts at front and the big fly wheels ,also 6 spokes and in one part at the edge thicker !! ![]() http://www.albertland.co.nz/images/shopping_cart/image791311323105.jpg writen on the roller Austin MFG from Chicago -- Last edit: 2014-07-01 15:16:38 |

MFG is not the model name, it is an abbreviation of the word "manufacturing" as commonly used in English speaking countries. |

I suggest this should be listed as "Austin MFG" producer to eliminate confusion with Austin the british car producer and no model name cos very likely this thing didn't have one -- Last edit: 2014-07-01 18:32:31 |

Or the Austin Automobile Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Automobile_Company -- Last edit: 2014-07-02 13:30:23 |

There is no reason to use MGF in the name if it just means manufacturing as said above. It is not the first make to group models from different actual makes (Triumph being one of the most known: bikes and cars are from two unrelated companies). |

Agree Austin Automobile Co. as named in the adverts on wiki. As it does not have a model name, it needs separation from UK Austins. |

...since this is a roller, not a sports car. |

How can Austin Automobile Company be correct when they are in Grand Rapids Michigan, and the Austin Manufacturing Company are clearly from Chicago Illinois? And, in any Case, (sorry about the pun) http://archives.hcea.net/?p=creators/creator&id=229 -- Last edit: 2014-07-07 18:52:38 |

So your suggestion is ... ??? |

F C Austin Mfg Co. It's the name of the firm, after all, and written on the machine. I'm also wondering if the MGF is a sports car. -- Last edit: 2014-07-07 19:38:15 |

The conformation of the manifold looks like the similar detail of the Holt 120 engine, but there is so little detail of other parts that it is hard to say what the whole thing might be. -- Last edit: 2014-07-07 21:33:13 |

We could list it as FC Austin then, but including "Manufacturing Company" in the name seems a little overkill. |
