Headlights as Aug 76 facelift, but dark hubcaps I think mean Sept 77 onwards GLS.

By then the 1000 had been renamed to 1005 and 1006. So this would be then a 1978 1006 GLS, I suppose.

Finding some conflicting info from different sources about the final versions with lots of run-out editions (eg http://www.rootes-chrysler.co.uk/simca-cars/simca-1000.html) and UK differences from Europe (eg 1005/6 names not used in UK). I suggested GLS as mock grille has chrome surround and 1978my from painted hubcaps, but it now looks as if 1978 GLS should have tinted windows and added lights. 1977 1005 LS may be safer, though grille surround possibly wrong.

In Italy there were only the 1005 LS, the 1005 GLS and the 1006 SR. Therefore this is a 1005 GLS. Possibly it was made for Italy only, I'm not sure it was available in France.

In Holland we also had the 1005 LS, 1005 GLS and 1006 SR, but only in 1977. In 1978 it was 1005 LS and 1006 GLS.

If I remember well the range didn't change fo '78, but I should check somewhere...

...I checked and You wre right as the same happened in Italy: For '78 the 1006 GLS superseded the 1005 GLS and 1006 SR, the basic 1005 remained.
later in the spring a special edition superseded the GLS.
so it is a 1006 GLS if it is a '78. Otherwise a '77 1005 GLS.

Did either 77 or 78 GLS have tinted windows?

...no idea but I don't think so...!

Reason for asking is 1978 UK GLS had tinted, but not 77 as far as I can tell. This one not tinted, so 77 (and therefore back to 1005 GLS)??

Yes, I'd say the non-tinted windows are better visible than the darke (unstead of chromed) hubcaps... Therefore I'd go with 1977 1005 GLS.
