The handle would be much shorter in that case. There were also no US SLKs until September 1997. It was a 1998 model there and not even an early one. |

If Wiki is correct they went on sale January 1997, as you said above, relax, that covers the 1998 model year by definition. Verified by the VIN. They just started the first builds a little early. |
