Are the dates/years used on these number-plates, actual years of registration? (just curious as I have quite a few plastered around my kitchen walls ;) )

I didn't see the white car on the last picture listed. It's a 1976 Buick Skylark.

Nope in the Us you have to buy a tag for your plate ever year, but its a year ahead, so when i buy a tage for my car this year, it will say "jan 2009" becuase my birthday is in january, and it expires in 2009, after january 2009 if i still have the tag on my car, i get a ticket, its just another way for the Government to get our money.

Years ago, some states sent you a new license plate every year you paid the registration fees. Now all states just send regisration stickers every year to place on the license plate.

California does not inspect vehicles like Texas and many other states, so we don't have inspection stickers. That probably seems weird to the rest of my fellow Americans.

There's 1978-1979 additional shield under bumper, absent in older cars. Not very elegant but hides front suspension and calms the air flow.
This element was replaced for 1980 by more elegant, wider spoiler.

In 1978 didn't all have alloy wheels? Wouldn't this be a 1974-1977? I'm pretty sure Bobby had two 450SL's. This one with the red wheels, and a '78 model with the alloy wheels.

I actually own, certified by the studio and Patrick Duffy the last 450 used for "Dallas" it was 1980 year model. They did use several cars, which were leased to the studio, and they used, I believe a wrecked car to stage the Pam Ewing crash and explosion scene. Mine has been through a few owners and I have just rescued it from long tie storage and it is in my collection. It has chromed Bundt alloys, but these could have been changed. Earlier cars show the dog dish wheel with colored centre caps. My understanding is these cars were returned to the dealers after filming and sold off, my car being replaced in 1981. So there may well be may of them out there (Dallas ran 1978-1991) possibly 6 or more. I cannot recall what cars appeared in later shows as the 450 came to end at that time. But certainly the Signal Red 450SL we all know as the "Bobby Ewing Car" is sitting in my garage.
