the date of the move is uncorrect since this is a 1961 Oldsmobile F85 Cutlass coupé |

The IMDB states that the film was released in the USA on 30 October 1959. Such a specific date seems unlikely to be a mistake. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052609/releaseinfo |

Cutlass did not come out until 1961. Corvair in 1960. |

By the trim and the reverse lights under the bumper, it's a 1962. |

Here's the reason for the discrepancy. BEAST FROM HAUNTED CAVE was filmed in Deadwood, SD and at nearby Terry Peak in March, 1959. After several years, it was sold to TV for showings. Since it was only about an hour long, the director, Monte Hellman, was contracted in 1962 by Roger Corman, the head of Filmgroup Productions, to add about 10 extra minutes of new scenes so that they could bring TV showings (with commercials) up to about 90 minutes. Since they didn't have the money to re-film at Terry Peak, the additional scenes (with the Cutlass) was done at Mammoth Lakes ski resort in California. The above scene was done in front of one of the Mammoth Lake lodges. |

Very thorough, daisuke, duly explaining the appearance of post-59 American autos in this picture. Indeed, the 356B (to the left of the Corsair Monza Wagon now being parked) not necessarily as new as first thought. VW 1200 to the right of the Cutlass? |
