This applies to Type 2-based pickups in general. Any model made after that in this country is usually owned by some Volkswagen enthusiast. |

the panel vans and pickups based on the T2 were subjected 2 the Chicken Tax after 1964 - those imported after the passage of the Chicken Tax were subjected to tariffs (the later Bay Window-based pickups and panels were not sold in the US but some made it into Canada; not only VW Type 2s were affected (this also extended to coupe utilities (similar to an El Camino or Ranchero) or windowless station wagons using a car platform... |
