Early 1955 President sedan. President, owing to gold hood ornament tip (visible in the thumbnail photo). Early '55 model, owing to non-wrapped windshield. -- Last edit: 2010-10-02 15:39:09 |

Commander57 knows his Studebakers! This is indeed an early production '55 President sedan using 1954 tooling. The 'real' 1955 Studebakers featured a wraparound windshield, advertised as "Ultra-Vista Sudebakers". |

Thanks for the kindly words, 56Commander. As a 37 year member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, I have read and made detailed notes on all the fine year/model articles that the super knowledgeable Fred Fox has written for the club magazine, "Turning Wheels". They were MOST useful when I went through the post-war Studebaker section here to try to be sure it was as accurate as possibe. Per my name, I have my grandfather's 1957 Studebaker Commander Deluxe 4-door sedan. Do you own a '56? Belong to the club? On another page you wrote that you remember looking through the window of a Studebaker dealership at the new cars. I have the same experience, only they were the windows of my uncle's Studebaker Dealership! If you ever get the time (LOTS of time!) you could run through the '47 to '66 Studebaker section to see if I've let any errors get through! -- Last edit: 2011-11-27 13:41:41 |
