Looks Avantgarde by the body colored mirrors, wheels, but it should have a fully chrome grille

Brazilian trim maybe? Hey, weren't they built locally?

Early models were imported, i believe from germany, and in 1999 the plant was established.

But this should be a facelift model? It's hard to see since the car is silver, but it seems to have indicators in mirrors. Definite later wheels too.

^ Yes gamer. Spring of 2003 late in the 2003 MY the repeaters were added.

Here is a great read on the Brazilian market A-Klasse. Only the 160 was sold 1999-2001. No German imports existed prior. I was wrong there. Sorry.

Quote At the end of 1998, the Class A landed in São Paulo to be presented at the Motor Show. The model had its production confirmed at a new Mercedes-Benz factory in Juiz de Fora/MG and would be sold from 1999 onwards in two versions: Classic and Elegance. The first, Classic, with fabric trim on the seats and doors and synthetic leather and plastic on the dashboard, steel wheels with hubcaps, in addition to a five-speed manual transmission. The Elegance, with more luxurious intentions, offered a leather-wrapped dashboard and steering wheel, alloy wheels, radio cassette player with CD changer, semi-automatic transmission and optional leather seats.

Quote However, not even the technological package, nor the 125 hp 1.9 engine launched in 2001 (which gave the 1,095 kg Mercedinho a performance worthy of grown-ups), or the idea of owning a Mercedes convinced the public. The Juiz de Fora factory had the capacity to build up to 70,000 vehicles per year, but between February 17, 1998 and August 15, 2005, exactly 63,402 units of the Class A were manufactured.
