Interesting! :sun:
At first I thought it's US-market Fiat 124.
However, at second I saw Lada (!) badge.

Here we have strange 21013 sample rather. Or could be made for movie Lada. :P

This scene was supposed to take place in Moscow, but the setting was quite dark and generic, so who knows where it was filmed!

The car seems to have twin headlamps intended to mimic the rectangular headlamps on the 2107 family.

The bumpers are not original. They look too narrow for a 124/Lada.

For me it is a Lada 2106 with some elements changed(rear lights are 2101). Front grille and headlights are original

Interesting was it made for film or someone use this as everyday car. :D It can be very puzzled thing, but most of these visible parts is from the US Fiat 124 Special, to me. Sidelights are exactly in the same place, trim under doors is similar same as shape of this hole for grill and headlights: /vehicle_187489-Fiat-124-Special-124B2-1971.html The indicators are of course missing (completly! - so can be made for movie indeed).
The enitre rear bar and taillamps are from the ordinary 124 indeed. The boot lid is in shape of Fiat 124/VAZ 2101.

Fake Lada. I have to say, it will go quite high in my private ranking of the most memorable fake movie cars, but "less is more" - nothing can beats the fake Chaika, like for now: /vehicle.php?id=58317

That is a totally surreal concept, which will probably never be repeated in the history or future of mankind. Perhaps we need a new slogan "imcdb - the database which explores knowledge and ideas beyond human understanding".

@Weasel - I'm not disagreeing with your argument, but the result made me fall off my perch, giggling hysterically at the ways of the world.

Contained this type of piece, we're proud to all. I have to look at films from here, to see if more tastiness of this caliber.

:D I hope it is some new trend in new US TV series with action set abroad. Will be interesting. :D

Eeeh, Weasel, it's not a new trend, we had it many times here at IMCDB. ;) It has caused incredible much fun for me! And it's indeed one of my favourite reasons to strolling around here. :D

@dsl: perhaps your choice for dinner has caused the hysteria. :p
Be nice to Weasel! We should help him to overcome his trauma, not to tease him.

I've donate any thing to see a Rastrojero, Siam di Tella or Bedord Indio (or any other auto Argentina and Uruguay) in some series yankee or beyond Europe :D

How did they manage to get a genuine Fiat 124 in 2010?? :wow: I thought there were hardly any survivors.

@ cl82: My father still has a Citroen Ami 8 1975 club is in good condition and drive it around here.
But said, cars are very old (and not always in good condition) in this country.

No - it was trying to sort out the RS Escorts. I keep forgetting the Golden Rule my grandmother used to tell me "Never try to identify rally cars - it always leads to madness."

She also used to tell me about something leading to blindness, but I forget what that was.

Maybe it can be found out easily. Just search, where the filmmakers got their cars from. ;) Surely a loan from a private collector. It'ds 2010-movie, so it should be possible to get these informations.

My guess is that it was filmed at a Southern California Edison power plant (http://www.sce.com/b-db/film/film-locations.htm).
Edit: It looks like it was filmed at the AES Power Plant in Redondo Beach.

This "Russian" facility appears to have a GMC Ford dump truck.

I searched for mid 80s Canadian Lada 1300 (VAZ-21013) sample as (little probable) solution. Without succes.

Weasel1984 PL

2010-09-25 15:36

This Canadian 21013 perhaps had same body like European one... Interesting didn't expect Ladas with classic bodies (same like Fiat) were exported to CDN. We have somwhere a Lada wagon in Canadian film, perhpas it means it is 21023(?).
Edit: Here it is: /vehicle_194240-Lada-1200-2102-1972.html

And what the door trim is saying? Shape of some of its parts reminds me 1969 124 S (or VAZ 2103), but external body elements still fit the most to 1971 Special (well except already mentioned rear).

I have doubts, that the linked Lada is an original CDN-export-versions, as in that movie and even that scene there are also many Trabants, which were never exported officially to America. So perhaps it's a private import, as the Trabants, too.

I just saw this car used in tonight's episode (Ep. 6.12 "High Crimes") of "The Closer" (/movie_458253-The-Closer.html).

[EDIT] Here are some pictures:
[Image: theclosers6e12001.4008.jpg][Image: theclosers6e12002.2070.jpg][Image: theclosers6e12003.4358.jpg][Image: theclosers6e12004.5484.jpg][Image: theclosers6e12005.827.jpg][Image: theclosers6e12006.8792.jpg][Image: theclosers6e12007.7725.jpg]
The car is used by a gang of men who rob medical medical marijuana dispensaries. The police set up a sting in one and put an exploding dye pack in with the money and marijuana which is set off in the car.
