If it is sure that it is an Albar, we should use that as make rather than "Dune Buggy" I guess...

It is a custom Dune Buggy
and based on a Albar Buggy S or ES with VW chassis.
Many parts are also Albar parts: Rear seat, Bowl seat, headlights, Tail lights, Turn signal for front, Outside mirror, ALBAR steering wheel,Instrument panel with center console ...

Albar(=Alois Barmettler,the Swiss foundeer-not German-from which the Firm's acronym)had shown its realizations(overall VW-powered buggies,but if into Eighties had done also custom sporty GT--like the Albar Sonic)at various M.S.(especially that Swiss)since Seventies;but seems that Firm was already estabilished around Sixties'(on the wawe of buggies trend,many Albars were exported in USA,where vehicles of that kind were most-wanted)

Was done a short-lived attempt to import these cars also in Italy in 1981,thru the Albar Italia Import's Firm of Catania;the model proposed on our market(most diffused by longtime in Switzerland)was the VW 1303 1.6 lt.-powered Buggy(with gullwing-doors);here don't were imported many ones,overall for two motivations:the former,'cause around few months,the private Import's Firm will cease to exist;the latter'cause nonetheless Albar sold in kits their buggies,in Italy,meanwhile,they were imported ready-made and maybe,that fact will create some troubles for find VW brand-new engines to power it;

Maybe,but,the true motivation of unsuccessful sales attempt was due at fact that Albar Buggies don't offers much more rather than at Italian-made Puma Buggy GT(almost a clone of that,seen that they shown gullwing-doors too),that share identical running gears.Anther factor that don't encourage sales in Italy was also the price,that must be very higher even into origin's Country(justified that in Italy Albars were ready-made sold and not in kit form as happened,meanwhile,at home);

Was that the sole vehicle that the Swiss Make would propose in Italy.Unknown how much ones were sold here and nor how much would survive today still in Italy.
