That's a 1974, alright. A 1998 movie and a patrol car 24 years old? I wish that was the case today. Those things are beautiful.

Why is there a 74 satellite in a movie that takes place in 71?

probably just a mistake by the movie producers, they might thought nobody would care if the police car was made in 1971 or 1974. in the movie 'world trade center' it's even worse, you see loads of 2003+ cars there even though the movie is supposed to be set in 2001.

The movie is set in 1971.

They are beautiful, though. Wish they still made them like this.

A '74 model in a movie set in 1971? An anachronism, perhaps the crew figured nobody would notice, but that is a naive assumption.

you should have a look at A Haunting series.. probably half of the cars are anachronisms ;)

That was a lot of fun to do :D. The Mercury Grand Marquis was my favorite one

According to imdb.com, the lightbar on the vehicle was not invented until the eighties; that would be an even worse anachronism.
