Head restraints indicates L trim. The color "Béžová 2040" was avaible in 1987-1990 period.
Could be twin looking 125 L (5-speed 120 L) also. However we can't confirm.

I can recognize old chrome door handles and 14" wheels on narrow axels, so it´s probably mongrel...old 1976-1980 Skoda 120 L with parts from the 1987 model, repaired probably after a frontal accident accident (lot of owners "improved" their Skodas with these newer parts, it was not forbidden and there where changeable). Lot of these mongrels are still seen on CZ roads.

Btw. import of Skoda cars to GDR stopped in cca 1985.

P.S. This front grill was since October 1988...

 Sorry, but you're wrong. Skoda was offered in the DDR until the end. Even the brand new Favorit was available (to order, a delivery would have happend 20 years later).

P.S. See the Favorit behind it. It has an old-style-DDR-plate. And as I've learned in my plate-collector's-forum, it's a version, which wasn't sold in Western Germany (the very early grille, the colour, plus the grey-painted rims).

sergej, it looks you may right about mongrel.

However the owner done excellent job. :D Facelifted body parts, bumper, grille and headlights, black wipers (1982+), mirrors (1984+), side repeaters (1985+), head restrains (1984+), paint (1987+ chart)...

Going this way of thinking we should rename many Tatra 603-2 samples because Pribor factory offered body rechange for older 603s hitting by deep rust or accidents. And it was very popular service!

I found too many 1987-1989 (original looking, good preserved) cars with both types of grille.
We suppose at first Skoda utilized both types in this period of time simultaneously and the newer type stayed alone in October 1988.

BTW, Ingo. I see Lada Samara behind Skoda. :X

@130rapid: uups, sorry, I mixed up the Favorit and the Samara. But for both it's the same, that they were available (in the meaning of ordering a contract) in the DDR.

It seems to be a typical DDR-car, fixed with many parts from different model-years. Not only the availability of cars was the problem there, also to getting spare parts.

It's only a bit strange, that this car has a plate, made with West German tools. So probably the owner has changed in 1990. Or the owner has changed the plates, so that it looks more "Western". This happened, too, despite the fact, that it's still a DDR-combination.
The other possibility of Western made plate, is unlikely here, due the cobbled part-mixture, that it was ordered and paid in the West, for example over the GENEX.

No, it isn't puzzle car. :P I mean all those elements fits perfect for original 1987+ car also.

Only too big looking and narrower placed wheels may looks a bit distrubing.
