"Three things I love about Germany: my Mercedes-Benz, no speed limit on the autobahn, and a black market for anything I can get my hands on."

Belongs to Specialist Ray Elwood (Joaquin Phoenix) paid for with the profits from his drug dealing and sale of stolen supplies. When he takes Sgt Lee's (Scott Glenn) daughter (Anna Paquin) for a night out in it, the next morning Lee makes the soldiers (including Elwood) use it for target practice:

Two cars were used in this film, this one was used in the autobahn sequences:

And this one (different numberplate) was used in the all the other scenes:

I think this is a Brabus version or maybe a 560 SEC with the AMG package.

Usually AMG cars have the badge on the back, there is no badge on the boot lid on this one. Why is it that some Mercedes and BMW don't have the badge that indicates the engine size eg. 520i or E200? I would have thought on the most expensive models like the S600 and the 750 that people who spent so much money on them would want people to know that they've got a top of the range model and not one that could have cost tens of thousands less. Or maybe some people use it to hide the fact they've only got an entry-level version like the 518. Or maybe some rich people are too just modest to let everyone know they've got the most expensive model. Or they don't want to advertise it to thieves.

Apart from the possible reasons I've listed does anyone know the real reason that some BMWs and Mercs don't have engine badges?

everything depends on the wish of a customer - and the reasons you explained well above.. BTW one guy my friend know bought RS6 Audi and specially ordered all the badges off the vehicle - he wants it to look as similar as possible (of course it is wider + big rims) as average A6 Avant..

Why?

Because cars like RS6 are a good choice for car-jacking

Probably it is more fun to give a lesson to Carrera or Modena with average family station wagon :p

You can spot a red Opel Ascona C on the second pic that G-MANN posted.

Also some insurance companies demand you to take the badges off...

It's funny how none of them ask you to take the badges off Fords and Vauxhalls.

But to be honest any car thief worth their salt should be able tell the difference between a 518 and a 540 without the badges.

well probably that is a guy, who wants to have 420 PS car looking as average 2,5 TDi.. And then look into the faces of show-off guys with supersports, when it is faster :)

Has any one heard of an insurance company demanding their U.S. customers to remove the badges on their vehicle? Hopefully that just happens in Europe. I wouldn't want to remove my badges.
