1906 25/30 HP Touring Car: Link to "www.rmauctions.com" (scroll down to the end). How would the British HP convert to French CV ? |

I don't think you can, because French CV and the British (RAC) HP are arrived at by different methods. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower A Citroën 11BL made in Slough becomes a Light Fifteen, for what that's worth. -- Last edit: 2010-08-06 21:46:39 |

In 1906 Panhard had 8, 10, 15, 18, 24, 35 and 50 CV. The French CV number refers to different engine sizes (: respectively 1801, 2402, 3296, 4072, 5313, 6898, 7360 and 10560 cc). |

More pics in http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/4960994 and http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z15225/Panhard-Levassor-25/30.aspx . In the last link they give the chassis number S4R1. [S4R] is the code for the 15CV of which 388 were built in 1906, in three versions. |

There's a 1918 very smoky Panhard et Levassor, owned by Luigi, in a 2009 episode. (And the Americans still can't pronounce 'Levassor'.) The car bears a family resemblance to the 1924 example in 'Peaky Blinders' (qv). If we can lose the inappropriate ampersand, we might see some rationalisation of the P et L pages. -- Last edit: 2016-09-07 06:04:24 |
