M3 Half Track, built by the Autocar Company, Diamond T Motor Company, and the White Company. International Harvester produced several thousand of a very similar vehicle, the M5 Half Track for the Lend-Lease program. |

International produced the M5. This is a M3 produced by the Autocar Company, Diamond T Motor Company, and the White Company. Since all M3s had the White engine fitted, I'd suggest to list it as a White M3 Half-Track. |

It actually is the International Harvester M5. The M2 and M3 (plus derivations) had rounded wings. With this gun it tries to impersonate the T48 Gun Motor Carriage, which incidently was never used by the US but the Soviet army. |

wrong..the us army employed them early in the desert campaign,although they were obsolete by then and phased out by the stuart light tank.Its actual designation is Carriage,Motor,75mm Howitzer,T30..only 500 were built,only on the White chassis..this film one is a mock up. |

Not a White. The wings show that it was made by International Harvester. Therefore it is not an original Howitzer Motor Carriage, as all these (T19, T30, T38) used an M3 vehicle. |

It is deffinatley an International M5 and not a White M3. The easiest ways to tell are the mudguards which (although very bent here) are very basic bent bits of metal on the M5, where as on the M3 they were very well formed. Also the rear corners are curved on an International, rather than the White's which are completley square, you can't see it in these pics but it is clearer in the film. The Gun conversion is likley to be a local (Yugoslav) modification, as most of the armour in the film was leased in from the Yugoslav Army. |
