Not a 911? |

I might be wrong, but as far as I can see, this should be a car from the 70s. When were the chrome door mirrors replaced by mirrors made out of plastic? |

1974 was the first year for the bumper style... 1976 was the last year for the chrome mirror. (though the driver's side only mirror thing lasted a bit longer... oddly enough) this will be a 1974+ (pre '76) Porsche 911. |

I don't know, how the US-regulations have been, but for a long time a right mirror was not mandatory (except in Sweden or if the car has a trailer-coupling). In Germany, I think, until sometimes in the late 80ies we had this law. But right mirrors had been available all the years - for extra charge, for sure. You could buy original one at the dealer or aftersales market-stuff (mostly cheap plastic-shit). I remember these ugly "fits for all models"-mirrors, packed on the "super bargain"-tables of the supermarkets. -- Last edit: 2010-07-06 10:40:35 |

here in the US right hand mirrors were not mandatory as long as there was a left and and inside rearview mirror, Here it seems that it is more common for Japanese cars and cheap american cars to offer the right mirror as an option instead of standard equipment and even then only on lower trim levels (I have owned a CRX HF and a Cavalier VL without right hand mirrors and on both of them I bought used mirrors from higher level models from a junkyard and installed them myself) -- Last edit: 2010-07-06 11:08:46 |

The EEC regulation requiring two external mirrors on hatchbacks and wagons came into effect from 1985, but manufacturers mostly applied the extra mirror to both sedans and hatchbacks alike. The wording of the regulation saying that the extra external mirror was required if the internal mirror was likely to be obstructed. The FMVSS regulation, requiring the same number of mirrors as in Europe(an extra external mirror was required if the internal mirror was likely to be obstructed) predates the EEC regulation (probably from 1983?). -- Last edit: 2010-07-06 11:27:07 |

In Argentina (and the other countries of mercosur i dont know), for example, are an obligatory two mirrors, but until 90's have one mirror in the cars. -- Last edit: 2010-07-06 17:05:56 |

Already packed ad shipped. Hopefully everything will going fine. Some pics: http://web.mac.com/ricktick/My_Cars/912E_For_Sale.html Absolute and for 100% a Midlife Crisis' syndrome... ![]() @rljuna2: the foglamps are the common Bosch ones from the 70ies, here with black houses, the older were chromated. Lenses and interior are identical. -- Last edit: 2010-10-20 13:33:28 |

This morning we picked it up: Link to "forum.imcdb.org" For here just pic, especially for rljuna2 ![]() ![]() My brother-in-law told me, that The European eBay is full with the full-red US-back lamps for the 1974+ 911. All mounted off the many US-imports. The fog-lamps are the classic Bosch's. Shortly earlier, until 1974/75, they were already available with chrome-houses. And later on they became cheaper, with plastic-made houses. Rubbish. |

I don't know if this one could be TÜV passed in your country with all the USA spec lighting equipment, ingo ![]() |

No chance, they have to be replaced (the reason, why so many US-lamps are for sale) My-brother-in-law already has bought European back lamps (aftersales-market stuff for 24 € each, the original parts at Porsche cost tenth times more ![]() |
