I love these cars. Gorgeous. This car should be probably four stars, since it's driven by the heroine of the film and featured very prominently throughout. |

On the DVD commentry they say that that car sucked, as they wanted it to have some wheelspin, but it failed. I must say those tail lamps are rather cool, shame they are now gone. Probably they forgot to switch off the traction control!  It is certainly possible with the follow up model: /vehicle_19942-Maserati-Coupe-GT-2002.html That is thanks to US regulations. The bureaucrats don't like design. |

Never seen one and know nothing about em' but they sure look cool. And has anyone notice the emphasis put on car headlights and tailights? It seems most makers try harder on their cars lights then they do on the body. Just take Ford's new "Bold Look" cars or Lincoln's Mark S, Mark Z, Navigator and Mark X or any of the new cars coming from BMW and Volvo. |

Well when ever I have designed a car I would tend to start from the front, as it helps establish the character of it. If you think about a car at the end of the day like branded clothes is an advert for the company. And most peoples first encounter with a car in the metal will be in a traffic situation, so you are likely to see the front/rear and the design from cynical point of view is to make people remember the car, and maybe aspire to own one. If ever there was a brand guilty of having cars that look the same are SEAT, rather large shield style grill on a monospace car. The chap in charge of the design direction of SEAT, Audi(now featuring rather large front grills) and Lamborghini(not an offender) is Walter de'Silva and he is credited fot Alfa Romeo 156 (a rather nice car especially in sportwagon guise) |

Well, it's true the american version had more conventional tailights, due to a regulation that required the tailights to be larger than the ones used in the european version. Judging by how many cars get rear-ended in the States by (drunk) drivers that "didn't saw the vehicle", it is a good regulation, if you ask me, even if it resulted in less cool taillights (yes, I think too they are cool). -- Last edit: 2009-01-17 03:17:01 |
