This green Silver Shadow once belonged to the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, which had a fleet of such cars - all painted green and regularly updated to the latest models. |

First thumbrial shows car with separate reversing lights. If we trust it's same car, the model year should be 1969 here. |

The Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel fleet was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the largest fleet of the Rolls Royce in history with a total of 14 Rolls Royce Phantom long wheel models in their vehicle fleet in the Hotel's signature "Peninsula Green" livery. According to the Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel website, the Peninsula Hotel's partnership with Rolls Royce begun in 1970 with the Peninsula's first fleet consisting of seven Rolls Royce Silver Shadows, making it at the time the largest single order of Rolls Royce motor vehicles in history. -- Last edit: 2023-07-19 11:39:21 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Exactly why do these cars have sidemarkers? Were they mandatory in HK? |

All 69+ Shadows and Bentley Ts for everywhere* got sidemarkers like this. However I'm not sure all markets got the same colours - they may have juggled orange/white/red according to local requirements. * - or very nearly everywhere - I think we have some made-for-Italys with 69 dates entered and smaller sidemarkers - maybe a carry-over of their previous format for a year or two?? |
