I think it'd be either a 1976 Monaco or a 1977 Royal Monaco. All full-size Dodges became Royal Monacos in 1977, but there was still a base Monaco full-size sedan in 1976. |

This is definately a 1976/1977 Dodge Royal Monaco, look to the Chicago PD cars from the Blues Brothers and you'll see those are the same: http://pics.imcdb.org/0is707/bluesbrotherschicagopol.994.jpg http://pics.imcdb.org/0is31/bluesbrotherschicagopol.994.jpg |

Any particular reason 1975 was taken out of the mix? Same front design spanned 1975 to 1977 on the upper priced Royal Monacos. -- Last edit: 2012-08-25 13:51:01 |

The base Monaco in '75 did have a different front but the '75 Royal Monaco and Royal Monaco Brougham used the same front as the '76 and '77 models. (I would say the ODDS are the subject car is a '76 or '77 because a taxi service would likely use base models and I would feel OK listing as a '76 for that reason but it is certainly possible this is a '75.) Link to a 1975 Dodge brochure: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" Dodge certainly built elegant looking cars back then. I miss those days. -- Last edit: 2012-08-25 20:33:43 |

^Don't forget; the base Monaco, still a full size C-body in 1976 (distinguishable only by the lack of Royal script in the badges) also used the concealed headlamp front end of the Royal Monaco. |

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Only the base Monaco model for 1975 used the different front end treatment, with the different grille and exposed headlamps. All other 1975 full-sized and ALL 1976 and 1977 full-sized models used the hidden headlamp front. |

Which means this could be a 1976 Monaco or 1975-1977 Royal Monaco, but because we default to earliest possible year then base Monaco is more likely because it's a taxi - 1975 Royal Monaco is unlikely because it's a taxi. Which is what I was trying to get across back in 2010 before p.c.f. got everyone to start thrashing the expired equid. Or, to put it another way - taxis are usually cheaper models, so for 1975-1977 full-size Dodge taxis would be: 1975: Monaco - different front end 1976: Monaco 1977: Royal Monaco -- Last edit: 2012-08-26 00:04:35 |

Which again parallels what I said in my 20:31 post. |
