Le logo à gauche sous la plaque fait me penser que ce soit bien une des rares exceptions...

The thing just under the number plate? Too high for Fiat badge: Link to "upload.wikimedia.org"

It is a Fiat: too small for Jumper or Boxer script.

Indeed 1994+ Ducato by badge placement
I think it could be useful to use chassis codes also for these Sevel vans, in this way we can have all twins grouped together by series and include also the unknown/uncertain ones in the research
Chassis codes are:
[280] for 1982-89 1a serie
[290] for 1990-93 1a serie
[230] for 1994-01 2a serie
[244] for 2002-05 2a serie
[250] for 2006-13 3a serie
Now can't remember if 2014+ bear another code, I have to check

What do you think?

Won’t hurt but antp would need a mass change. That is a lot of work to tackle. I’m always for chassis codes to bring generations (or similar names i.e Classic, Corsa Classisc, Corsa) together under one code. Helps IDing and weeding out.

^ Mass changes are relatively easy for Sir Admin to block update, provided the instructions are clear and he can do it cleanly without leaving a pile of not-quite-sure examples. However, the questions I'd ask - knowing nothing really about Ducatos for or against the suggestion - are does the change make things easier to use/find, are the differences clearly visible for non-Ducato-ists to apply successfully, and what's likely to happen in a few years time, when current Ducato-ists may have moved on and lots of newbies have to try to learn to apply the system. If all the answers are positive, then by all means propose the idea to Sir Admin. Some code systems are very useful, others too complicated to use reliably (so we either ignore them, or sometimes simplify to a very basic selection without tripwires). And in this case, what happens with codes for Ducato relatives under other brands - is there a hidden avalanche of other systems which need consideration??

Yes indeed I reckon would be a big amount of work..but then we'll have a coherent and well organized result

Ducatos, Ducatoes, Ducati?

It's such a long time since I did Latin that there were still some Centurions about.

I've just seen dsl's comment and I try to explain: these codes are the same for all Sevel twins, since, unlike Scudo/Ulysse which was developed primarily by PSA (many of them have wrong origin), Ducato was developed primarily by Fiat and in this way bears a Fiat project/chassis code, so IMO we can apply to all of them, like it happens with [U60] for Eurovans for example. I don't think they are difficult to handle since basically they change just in occasion of restyling or new generation. I think the codes can make these easier to search, and also we can put the unknown with the respective codes so maybe they can be identified by one who search for “Ducato“ or "230".

Even if I reckon that often it's virtually impossible to identify them exactly so they end up with a default name or as forever unknown..
