Ray Milland's car. Continuity error with these blacked out WW-II headlights which suddenly appear, also the film is meant to take place in 1937.

1937+ Ford (UK) Ten [7W].

Edit: Or is it an Eight [7Y] ?

Edit2: No, the Eight didn't have this triple divided grille.

Hi,

The numberplate was issued in cca August 1936. I have a friend with a 7W who is puzzled. The film, it seems, was made in 1944. 7W tourers were introduced April 1937, but the reg. of the 7W in the film is from 1936. Closer inspection of the photo shows a non standard fitting of the front no. plate, it looks to be attached by some sort of ties between the front panels. The correct no.plate mounting for the car is on a bracket on the front offside bumper bracket. The lights appear to have covers ? Also it is more than feasible that the car has simply been registered with the owner's previous plate. I doubt it very much indeed that a tourer would have been produced prior to any production 7W saloon and the fact that it has no bumper with no place for the registration plate gives the impression that the photo was taken after 1938.

The Uninvited was filmed April - June 1943 in the US, Arizona and California, so that's not necessarily a valid UK plate.

The non-standard plate fitting also suggests that it's not the car's real registration.
