Is this a real McCoy or is this a knock-off? |

If it's a Dodge it's a Charger Daytona. If it's a Plymouth, Roadrunner Superbird. |

So now the question is, is it a real Daytona or an ordinary Charger converted to a Daytona lookalike? Chargers and Charger Daytonas had different rear windows; Chargers looked like this and Charger Daytonas looked like this. I know this is a quick way to tell a real Daytona from a lookalike because the shape of the roof is harder to change than adding a nosecone and a spoiler. Watching the video, the car appears to have the proper style for a Daytona, so it's either the genuine article or a very well done copy. |

This is in fact a real Charger Daytona. The car belonged to Joe Machado when this video was shot. Joe was a member of the car club "Winged Warriors". My Dad was a member of the same car club with a 69 Daytona, and a 70 Superbird. This particuliar Daytona now belongs to Joe's son, Sean Machado. The car currently has 258,000 miles on it and has been in the Machado family since its birth. Sean has had the car stripped and painted back to original Red and Black tailstripe color combo. |

1969 was the only model year for these. |

Indeed. If it's a '70, as the old smog check says, it's not a real Daytona. |
