The problem is that we have too many 1988 International Harvester 4700 and too many International Harvesters when some should be International.

That's not a reason to put 1990 :??:

If no specific year is known the first year in the production run of a model is used. If this truck looked identical from 1988 to 1992 then the year is 1988.

You are right that 'International Harvester' is not correct -- that was at that time for tractors and construction equipment only. The truck division was taken over by Navistar and for a number of years the official name was 'Navistar International'.

Some more infos on that subject here:

Navistar was the company, but until now we only used "International" without "Navistar" as make. If we switch to "Navistar International", we should rename all of them, to prevent from having different makes with no reason.

This was the third time I had set it right ... but no one seems to listen and rather changes it back. Its just like 'Jeep'!

It is rather useless to change one vehicle and let all the others with the old name. In such case we have to change all at the same time.
I can rename all "International" to "Navistar International", but the only thing that annoys me is that on their website they do not mention "Navistar" in the names.
They use "The International " when mentionning their models.

That is true today, as they returned to using 'International' only some time in the 1990s. And like many other companies they will not talk about the name used before the name change ... marketing strategies ...
They started using 'Navistar International' in 1986 and still used it in the early 1990s. I don't know when they changed it again.

Hmm yes I forgot that, though we already discussed about that.
I found lots of reference to Navistar International for armoured bank trucks of the early 90s.
Well, then I do not know what is the best... write a letter to the company to ask them? :D

7100/8100, or even a short-nose 8200 (not 4700)
