No, that is more likely 1980/85 Chevrolet Caprice Classic per the taillight design...

I also see a 1988-91 Ford LTD Crown Victoria ahead. Both of these 80s taxis are obviously movie props because NYC passed a law in 1996 that said taxis cannot be any older than 6 years.

They must have retrofitted the CHMSL on the 1980-1985 Chevrolet Caprice Classic.

They must have... although there were a few GM cars that had the CHMSL optional before 1986 but I don't think the Caprice was one of them. It's interesting to note that the tail lights aren't illuminated.

That's quite correct, cieraguy.
Some Cadillac models had them optionally in 1985 along with some of the GM subcompact models.
But as you say, not the Caprice. The lamp in the photo is a retrofit.

Excuse me karoomay, but before 1996, what was the oldest modelyear for a NYC taxicab?

I'm not sure how long NYC taxis were allowed to last prior to 1996 but I assume yellow cabs used to be able to operate as long as they could.
