was used by a side character and was involved in chase and had that gag of running into a car transporter and the famos ambhibios scene  , so enough for 3 stars IMO plus I submited more truly 2S cars (avoiding traffic)BTW Ingo , the GTI for all its hype had ZERO movie made about it while the Manta had no less than 2 movies !!! and we all know the Manta B is a true sports car and as the Manta 400 the best non 4WD Group B rallye car while the GTI has none of that.... -- Last edit: 2013-02-06 21:42:49 |

There's only a book named after the Golf: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Golf , no movies, that's correct. The Manta-movies were hastily made, to pick up a bit resonances from the plenty of Manta-jokes, going around in West Germany in the late 80ies. |

Absolutely not. Not even a little bit. Btw: The Opel GT is neither a sports cars, as the VW Scirocco, too. Golf GTI and Kadett GT/E come closer to that, even the semi-predecessor NSU TT, but not enough for being a real sports car. |

I mean a 80s BUDGET sportscar like the Nissan 240 / 300ZX , Toyota Celica/Supra , Mitsubishi Starion , Mazda RX-7 etc the Manta was a RWD and reasonable good chassie which makes it a sportscar and as the Manta 400 quite well powered, the Golf GTI being FWD doesn't really make it a sportscar ... -- Last edit: 2013-02-07 15:31:04 |

@mike962: no it wasn't that at all. Just the Coupé-version of a low-spec compact car, the Ascona (partly still with Kadett B-technology) with a basic engine with 50hp. No, nothing sportive at all, except a bit in the GT/E. But the conception wasn't it ever. |
