This is an ACF-Brill, probably IC-41 model. Intercity, 41 passenger. ACF Brill built between 1945-53, many on Trailways, or Greyhound. The blue on this one would indicate a Greyhound, early 50's model with the silversides. Mid engine power, under the floor flat 6 from Continetal, or some had Cummins or Detroit 6 cyl diesels also sideways under the center floor. FAST busses, 4 spds, and 2-3 mpg for gas models. dr. g. |

Really, it is an ACF-Brill, another powerful gasoline engine it uses is Hall-Scott 707 c.i. The bus is fast and comfortable, but don't have underfloor luggage space, it is on the back door. |

I have two of these beauties, a '46 and a '48. There is an amazing thrill when the original 779 cu in 6 cylinder rumbles into life. There is under floor luggage space on both sides plus the back hatch. 3 mpg is about right and the gas tank is huge. My '46 is in great running order but could do with seeing the make-up artist! Interestingly this coach has pneumatic power steering and is simply a joy to drive. |
