Whilst the HA saloon was introduced in 1964, this one is much later, dating from the early seventies. Remember these were work horses and old ones didn't last at all well, mainly due to the fact that Vauxhall didn't attach a high value on rust proofing at the time... |

They made them up to 84 if I remember rightly & sold alot better than the mechanically superior [especially suspension wise] Chevette van [was it the chevane?] mainly due to the lower price, British Telecom were the main purchasers, although the Post Office, RAC etc also bought hundreds. |

I had a very second-hand one in the early 80s, a '73 model, basically for use as a motorised toolbox. Their great virtue, so far as I was concerned, was that they were very easy to work on, and spares were readily available from scrapyards as British Telecom in particular seemed to treat them as disposable and wreck them with regularity; for instance, if I needed two decent Michelin ZX's I could nip up the knackers' and swap the wheels over. |
