La voiture est détruite à la fin du film, mais heureusement il ne s'agit pas d'une vrai Ferrari. Vu sa rareté, on a plutôt utilisé ici une MG modifiée. Les producteurs ont reçu pas mal de lettres de fans de Ferrari qui pensaient qu'une vraie Ferrari avait été détruite dans le film.
FlavienB ◊ 2004-09-09 19:16	Je ne comprend pas l'allusion a la MG. La MG (TC ou TA) est la voiture en photo a coté. La replique utilisait il me semble une base de corvette mais c'est a verifier. Ce qui est sur c qu'ils n'ont pas utilisé une MG modifiée (RIRE). La California n'etait pas réservé au marché américain. Françoise Sagan a d'ailleurs possédée le modèle portant le n°de chassis 3021GT. On trouve 4 types différents de california. Deux types de chassis. Les longs de 2M60 dites LWB, et les courtes 2M40 dites SWB. Ensuite quelque soit la longueur du chassis, les phares pouvait etre carenés ou pas. Je ne peux pas dire si ici il s'agit d'une vraie California. Des replique on etait faite a partir de Ferrari comme la 330 ou la 250 gte beaucoup moins chere.

This version of Ferrari's already famous 250 series was designed specifically for the American market, featuring only two seats, a convertible top, and more horsepower than in its standard European trim. The 1961 Ferrari GT250 was a modified MG sports car. The producers received several angry letters from car enthusiasts who believed the car shown was a real Ferrari and that it was actually wrecked in the film. DIEHARD ◊ 2006-01-27 21:47	This kitcar however was severly wrecked, when they tried to draw back the speedometer, using a rollbench, thus preventing anybody finding out they had driven the car. However they forgot to lock it when it was on the turning wheels of the rollbench, so it was ejected out of the garage, through the window and down the hill.... 69Roadrunner426 ◊ 2006-08-13 07:39	There actually was a real 250 GT used in shooting. They brought one into the studio for 1 day of shooting. Every extreme close up you see of the car (i.e. The emblem, wheels and so forth) is from a real 250 GT

CougarTim ◊ 2009-01-27 07:01	In the January 2009 issue of Automobile Magazine, there's a review of the new Ferrari California. In a brief sidebar, writer Don Sherman talks about this movie: "Decades ago ... I test-drove a faux Spider California manufactured by Modena Design & Development, located not in Italy but in El Cajon, California. This Ford V-8 powered kit car was a reasonably accurate visual copy, but one detail about it struck me as odd: the bottom surfaces of the four tailpipe extensions were deeply scratched and flattened. "I discovered what caused the damage upon viewing 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'.... Midway through the film, the car star soars through the air and lands in a shower of sparks.... The car I'd tested between filming and the movie's release was the actual flying machine." He also says that the "making of" material in the latest DVD edition (the "Bueller...Bueller...Edition") reveals that two Modena Design kit cars served as stunt doubles for the genuine Ferrari. Also: "Modena Design is no longer in business, and the movie car's whereabouts are unknown."
blk95ta ◊ 2009-07-18 01:01	I either saw one of the movie cars or one identical to it parked at a performance shop in phoenix, az in 2006. i said to someone there that the car reminded me of the one in ferris buellers day off and they said something to the effect that it was one of 4 used in the movie.
Mycroft ◊ 2009-10-07 08:38	About this being a modified MG... I read a magazine article published before the movie was released. It stated that parts of the car were taken from an MGB. I don't recal which exactly, but I think it was the trunk lid, and tail light lenses. The tail lights do appear to be MGB units. The article also said that the interior was a modern set up with electronic gauges, but that was being changed for a more authentic period look for the "up-coming teen fantasy movie".

wvb ◊ 2011-08-12 06:50	...a kit car yes, I think so. There was a company in the USA in the 1980s building 250GTO replicas out of Nissan 240Zs. I always thought the FB car although not a GTO replica was based on a 240Z. The cars look almost the same dimensionally but are of course poles apart. The 250 Spyder in FBs day off has British Jaeger/Smiths instruments (when Ferris notices the odometer) as found in most Jaguars of the 1960s instead of Veglia units so that sort of gave it away for me. As for the tail lamps, most original 250GT/GTB/GTCs etc were largely Pininfarina(if not Bertone or Scaglietti)designs who were also responsible for many 1950s & 1960s BMC cars that Farina did some styling jobs on hence real ferrari tail lamps look similar to MGB ones etc. The FB car i expect therefore uses MGB lamps and trunk lid.
