They actually use two. There's this one, which gets completely trashed thanks to the fact Billy drives worse than Taggert's wife. During the chase Interior And then this one, which Taggert shows up in later, which they use for the remainder of the movie. -- Last edit: 2013-02-03 09:34:00 (karoomay) |

They made a lot of s..t in this movie. The plates of the cars disappear, then they back again (like on the cahse with this Dodge). They drive around, destroy some things like parking meters (I hope it's the right word for it), the plate isn't there, they hit the car, the plate is on the car. At the end when they smashed the car you can see the rear of the car - the brake light is broken - the next view on the car shows a perfectly brake light without damages. And the license plate on the next Dodge is the same as it was on the other Dodge that they wrecked. Absolutely strange... |

Probably used more than one cars to use the sequence or the sequence has been mixed up. |

@Phil Leon: these goofs are absolutely common at car-chases in movies. Even in the absolute legendary chase-scene in "Bullitt" you see them. Not to talk about the mostly total mixed up locations in following cuts (if you know the original places, it irritates very much). |

@Ingo: Thanks, it's good to know... |

Parking meter is the correct term, Phil. |

Can it be that the license plate is a fake? I read it here in IMCDb - but I can't remember where it was. OK, I found it in the wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2GAT123 -- Last edit: 2011-03-28 13:34:45 |

Normally detective cars wouldn't have computer terminals, correct? |

Not unheard of but not a big thing. |

The same Diplomat was used on an episode of Hunter: same wheels, white walls, stripes, plaid upholstery ect you see the interior more in it, its either an '80 or '81 |

Yes, it does look like the one used in Ep 2.15: As said above, there do appear to be at least two different ones used. The main one does look like a 1980-81, with the rectangular hood ornament. From 1982 on, they used Pentastar ornaments. The one that is being trashed looks like a 1982+, as it has the Pentastar ornament on the trunklid. According to the brochure, the plaid was optional on the Salon trim Link to "oldcarbrochures.org" -- Last edit: 2021-03-05 04:00:22 |

Definitely a 1980 - '81, because this one has the older '70s Dodge emblem above the grill. |

Another way to tell them apart is the interior rear view mirror. '80/'81 it's upside down. The '82 onwards has it mounted correctly. |

That's it alright, also notice how the front bumper guards are missing |
