Model/Series fender emblems were standard from 1969 onward, so what helps to tell a 1971 model from a 1969 one with such a view?
And if this pickup is identified as a C-20 one, does it mean that it is the "small" C-20 with the 127" / 3.23 m wheelbase (202" / 5.13 m overall length), or the (1969+) "long" (133" / 3.38 m wheelbase // 213¼" / 5.42 m long) C-20 model? If short model, it has then the same specs as the "Long bed" C-10. If long one, then it shares the same specs with the C-30 one...
So how to tell the difference between the models? It seems that the only sure thing is the Fleetside bed option...

Yes eLMeR you are correct on the only sure thing is GM Fleetside. I applaud your knowledge of the GM line and their details. Many of the distinguishing features come from seeing the vehicles. The bed length, the ride height, the size of the wheels, hubs, axles, brakes, suspension etc... The kind of details one gets in a passing glance that often define the vehicle. Clearly this is not a short wheelbase truck. This truck has the more common long bed of the 127" chassis (picture the spare tire mounted upright behind the cab in front of the rear wheelwell along the bedside. It fits nicely along the bed side). The longer "long bed" was much less common and often referred too as a "Camper Special" or something like that. I think those trucks had a slightly longer wheelbase that gave the bed a different side profile...more distance between the wheels and less overhang at the rear?
The 20 series came with larger wheels and tires than the 10 series and different hub caps or wheel covers. Most of the time a longbed C10 looks different than a longbed C20 of the same specs. The two trucks do not sit the same.
By looking it is assumed to be 2wd yet we do not actually see the front suspension. By looking I suggest this is a C20 (camper, large towing mirrors, heavy duty tires). By fact it is only a GM Fleetside.
Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm over the GM line. Please forgive my errors.
