The closest I can come is a Bedford J type, but what would a UK built truck being doing in Japan?

Much more likely to be a Japanese model that happens to look rather like the J type.

fender do look to match

if you have some doubts you could name it Mitsubishi Fuso unknown

perhaps the movie is on youtube to check if there are more frames visible

I think it is the color in the main picture that blends in too much with the details.
The fenders are originally the reason I thought of this Mitsubishi Fuso design. If you look carefully they have the same general shape.

another detail, the mirrors are the same, or had other japanese trucks from period mirrors like that instead of being bolted to the door ?
