Yes, from 1973 until the end of the series. The base Caprice was returned at 1986 when Impala series was dropped after 1985 model year. |

Chevrolet introduced as Caprice in 1965 as option package. Between 1966 until 1972 it became it own series as Caprice. In between 1973 until 1985, it was simply called Caprice Classic with no other trim level. It was just a series. In 1986, the Caprice series started to have its own trim level starting with Caprice, Caprice Classic and Caprice Classic Brougham. As for the station wagon, between 1966 and 1968 it was called Caprice. Between 1969 until 1972 it was called Kingswood Estate that is comparable to the Caprice series. From 1973 until 1976 it was simply called Caprice Estate. There are two trim level for the station wagon in the Caprice series: Caprice Classic and with the faux woodgrain as Caprice Estate for the option package that was being used between 1977 until 1990. The question was if the Classic was a trim, which you didn't really make to clear in your earlier post. To simplify it, yes, it was only a trim. Given that, it's much simpler to ask antp for a batch update of all 1973-1985 Caprices so that they can all have "Classic" as trim. |

 From what he said, until 1986 the name was "Caprice Classic", it is only after that that it became a trim. I renamed all pre-1986 "Caprice Classic" to "Caprice Classic", the later one will keep it as extra info then. That will work for the sedan/coupe version. Don't forget that there were two different Caprice for the station wagon for the 1977/85 model years. The one with Caprice Classic is without the faux woodgrain trim package and the Caprice Estate is the optional trim package.
