Is this a genuine BMW Art Car or just a mess scribbled with felt-tips after a session drinking extra-strong cider?? Or both?? |

Believe it or not, although it looks as if it had been bedaubed by the Hamster himself it seems to be genuine indeed. Sandro Chia was responsible; you`ll find the car in question under no.13: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Art_Car According to that article the car is a 1992 M3 GTR. -- Last edit: 2015-07-21 21:16:01 |

This isn't a real GTR, actually. The M3 GTR was built in 1993 for the ADAC-sanctioned German GT championship. But this car is a year older, and was intended to be BMW's entry in the 1993 DTM. The official BMW Art Car website calls it "1992 BMW 3-Series Racing Prototype", and the specs confirm the car was complying with the 2.5 litre "FIA Class 1" ruleset intended for the following DTM season. https://www.bmwartcarcollection.com/2011/05/13-sandro-chia-bmw-art-car/ -- Last edit: 2018-01-26 19:34:49 |
