It's not possible any more with the newer Swedish system (but you can found everything about the car by the number, even the VIN-number). In the last years, France, Italy and Spain have introduced new, anonymous plate-systems, where you cannot identfy the region/town/county any more, where the car is coming from Hopefully such imbecility will never come up in Germany...
