The final VW van model in the USA (for now?) in 2003 had a 200hp front-mounted V6 and front-wheel drive. Power was more than adequate, about 5x what the original "bus" had but a bit buzzy sounding for a V6. The 4-speed automatic transmission was a little sloppy and lurks as a known potential problem in the powertrain. Ride and handling were decent... for a front wheel drive van. The interior was pure German pragmatism though at least you got two-zones of climate control and a powerful air conditioner and heating system. The rear-facing second row of seats in the MV were not for everyone! |
