Existing listing "1981 Chevrolet Citation" - pictures added but needs confirmation.

I would guess this is a hatchback rather than sedan by the GM J-hatch shape?

J-hatch? this is the X-body. The J-body was the Cavalier, Sunbird, et al.

Just looked like a J-car to me, I wouldn't recognise the X-body. ;)

This Chevrolet Citation was purchased new by my Dad for my Mom's birthday. VIN 1X685AW139497, hatch back, front wheel drive and an amazing heater and started no matter how cold. It is a 1980 per the car title. Purchased in June of that year. The way it got into the movie was that after my Mom gave the car to me I had both my Porsche 911SC and Chevy in at Leighton's Garage - one to go into storage for the winter and one to come out of storage for the snowy, salty roads of Minnesota. I got a call from Leighton Riese who races cars and owns Leighton's Garage and he said that Warner Brothers was in town to film a movie and called him being that he knows everyone in the car industry with his racing contacts. I said no because I though they wanted to rent the Porsche for $50/day but then Leighton told me that they wanted the Chevy for $50/day plus they would give me a driver and car to take me anywhere I wanted to go for the 10 weeks. They also told me that they would insure the car for $20M (in case the actors needed to come back in town to film if something happened to the car). I took my chaffer and car and they had the Chevy for the time. They put "car make up" on the car to make it look older since it was in mint condition. I sold the car November 23 1996 to a fellow Lake Minnetonka resident. My friends always told me that this as serial number 1 for the Citation.
