Shouldn't the model origin of this be Germany? |

Only German thing in the New Beetle is the VW logo, it was designed in VW California studio and built in Mexico. |

Hmmm, yeah I've since read a little about the background of it. However, I noticed this (/vehicle_209566-Volkswagen-New-Beetle-Typ-9C.html) one has Germany listed for the model origin, so it had me confused. |

when i see the "orgin german"-sign, at a new beetle, i usually make a remark to change it. |

1999 was 1st MY to have turn signal on the fender, and with those mirrors it would be 1999-2000. -- Last edit: 2016-02-25 08:02:05 |

When I saw this comment last night, I was doubtful until I looked into it. The light you are talking about is here: Checking 1998 models, it is not there: Link to "www.cars.com" Also found it verified on a couple other sources. Link to "newbeetle.org" http://www.howielipton.com/changes.htm The light stayed there through the 2003 model year, when they updated the mirrors to include a turn signal (introduced in 2003 on convertibles and higher trimmed coupe models, then all models for 2004) Most of the New Beetles will need to be updated as most are listed as 1998 models. |

It's just hard to believe our group of nitpickers didn't notice this before. |
