Weird that he's driving a brand-new Mondeo in a chase. On the other hand, in a View To a Kill, Bond drove a couple average cars (that Renault that got split in half, and a Ford LTD, to name a couple).

I think, it will be more than one chase - would they pay 20.000.000,- USD for one scene?

It's a prototype of the third-generation Mondeo.
http://www.mi6.co.uk/news/index.php?itemid=4190
Quote The model is a specially-built 5-door example of the new Mondeo, fitted with a sports bodykit. Finished in striking Tonic blue, the new Mondeo property was constructed by hand at Ford of Europe's Design Studio in Cologne, Germany, in January, 2006.

Appropriately for a Bond movie, the vehicle was then shipped under great secrecy to the filming location in the Bahamas, where the short driving sequence was filmed

This sounds simple enough, and although the car in question may not be one of Bond's more complicated 'special' vehicles, in reality the task of getting a new Mondeo to the Bahamas in time for the filming and more than one year before the car's launch was immense.

Edited to add: Photos of Bond's Mondeo on location in the Bahamas:

Yes, this car is used briefly, very much like that scene of Pierce driving the '57 Fairlane in Die Another Day.

I don't see anything wrong with Bond driving this car, as it is only featured briefly. At least he's not driving a Tempo. :D

And the product placement wasn't as prominent in this Bond film compared to some of the previous ones, I think.

So why don't we get the cool(er) Fords here? Like the new Focus and this Mondeo rather that the Fusion (US version)? Hell, I'd take an last-generation Mondeo over our Fusion any day.

I think it's because they would be too expensive for the US market.

Well, since most US Ford models aren't selling very well these days, you'd think they'd take a bit of a loss on each model and make it up with volume.

Oh yeah, I'll take an Australian Falcon too.

Because it seems that the non-believers here don't like to see Bond driving a Ford.

Obviously a PR-trick to show off the new Mondeo. Like the Mustang in Goldfinger and other cars in other JB-movies.

I would sooo much like to have this car!. I like it better than the Aston Martin DBS, but overall I'm not very fond of sports cars. I like ordinary sedans and some hatchbacks (this for one). I´m actually thinking about bying one of these, but I guess they are pretty expensive, right? :( :/

In an interview about the film Daniel Craig said it was one of the prototypes and worth more than all the Aston Martins in the film and he was ordered to be extra careful with it. As they only had one any damage would have had to be repaired or avoided in the shot. That is probably why you only see it carefully driving along. As a car it is probably more realistically what you would expect a spy to drive in the real world!

Since this is a prototype "constructed by hand at Ford of Europe's Design Studio in Cologne", it shouldn't be marked as made in Belgium. :)
