It looks to me like a C2500. Sierra was a GMC name.

This is a 1993+ Chevrolet C3500 Chassis-Cab with an unknown brand ambulance body. The truck has dual rear wheels, which was not used on the C2500.

I agree that it's a C-3500. That grille was first introduced on the 1990 Chevrolet W/T (Work Truck). It can't be newer than a 1993 due to the older-style dash. What makes you say that it's a 1993 model? Also, this isn't an ambulance body. It's a Chicago Police "paddy wagon."

You're right on the ambulance body, I didn't look at it closely (I just went by how it was already labeled).

As for the grille, yes the W/T 1500's used this grille from 1990 on, but the remaining trucks didn't get it until later. I used to have the brochures from these years, but I don't anymore. Now that I think of it that Grille was used on the other non-WT 1500 trucks from 1994 onwards (when the Silverado grille was also updated). In addition the old style dash was actually used until 1994.

So this truck would appear to actually be a 1994 C3500. However, this movie was made in 1993, so being a 1994 model might be unlikely. Perhaps the truck had a replacement Grille?

Here is a 1991 Brochure that shows the grille commonly used on Chassis cabs up until 1993:

Here is all I can find for a 1994 brochure with the updated grilles:

You're absolutely right about the dash. I blanked out on the 1993/1994 year, which I always get right

The W/T grille actually changed on the 1994 models. The grille lines became thinner on the 1994 models, and as you said, they became the standard base model grille from 1994 onward. So we can perhaps safely say that this isn't newer than a 1993 model. It would be good to know what years the Chicago PD purchased these. That would be the best ID on the model year.

Brand new 1994. That front fascia was not offered prior. W/T models were only C/K 1500s. This is clearly a 3500.

Edit: remember in the US the model year comes out the before. It would not be unrealistic for the Chicago PD to loan out a brand new vehicle for production.

With the bumper and front plate in such a condition it would have to been in service for a few months at least.

major cities here in the US (especially NYC, Chicago and LA) tend to do their vehicles in pretty fast (it's not shocking to see huge dents and scratches on vehicles within 2-3 months of entering service)
