You were one of the few lucky ones then. The K-car line may have saved Chrysler but I think they were true junk. I have to say though, that Chrysler's quality has gotten better since they were dropped in the mid 90's. |

Like most cars in it's class including all makes, it depended on how they where treated and maintained. -- Last edit: 2007-07-18 04:14:55 |

The K-car line were/are great and the 2.2 engine (they had) were both releiable and durable I had a freind that had one he drove it with NO oil and it kept going! the only issuse these engines had were headgaskets. and Chrysler's quality fell in the 90s ever know anyone with a Dodge Intrepid? -- Last edit: 2008-05-11 04:21:03 |

there is a scene where this car was used by mistake... after JJ tells the cops that the 2 cops in the vette are commies, they decide to get back at him by forcing the chrysler limo off the road... watch that scene closely and you'll see that the car that cuts the limo off is in fact this daytona, and not the Corvette.... woops |

This car was accually a pre production model daytona it had some componets that was used in the sister model the Chrysler Laser ( Taillamps are found on the Laser) (The steering colom & wheel was acually from a K Car)And some other Chry Co's vehicles also had some parts in this car |

This particular Daytona lead a very interesting life. After it's use in television was up it was given to famed Super Stock racer Paul Rossi to turn into a Front Wheel Drive Race Car. At the time Chrysler was trying to show the world what their FWD 2.2 could do. Rossi raced some, and got other racers to campaign the cars across the country. My father was one of them. He and His Race Partner picked the car up in Anaheim, Ca and brought it back home to Columbus, Oh to finish turning it into one of the fastest Naturally Aspirated 2.2's in the country. This all took place in 1986-1987. The car held the National Record for 2 years and won several races and a couple national events in NHRA Super Stock F Compact Class. Yes the car was comprised of many different components borrowed from other vehicles in the chrysler stables, this included the motor and transmission which I still have under my work bench. The car would eventually be retired, stripped of all it's components and sold to be transformed into a rear wheel drive Super Gas Drag Car. This happened around 1995 and I haven't seen it since. |

and this still is from the scene i was referring to lol. That was supposed to be sammy and dean in the vette, not frank in the daytona.![]() -- Last edit: 2015-05-21 22:48:29 (Weasel1984) |
