That is impossible to tell, since altogether 11 factories produced the M4.

Among them were the Pressed Steel Car Co., Baldwin Locomotive Works, American Locomotive Co., Pullman Standard Car Co., and the Detroit Tank Arsenal.

We'll take Pressed Steel then, since we already have other Sherman for that make...

Actually that is the important information! :)
The M4A3 variant was initially produced by Ford. Later versions were made by Fisher at the Grand Blanc Arsenal. To what I know this includes the M4A3E8.
This version is identifyable by its new suspension, even visible in this blurred picture.

The full name, including nick names, is:
Fisher M4A3E8 Sherman 'Easy Eight' (1944-45).

Thank you Alexander!
Long ago it was exhibited at the exposition of Self-Defense Force.
I touched it with absorbed interest :)
I'm glad to understand details of the tank with memories.

Why Fisher? Chrysler (Detroit Tank Arsenal) manufactured 8 times more M4A3s with 76 mm gun (4000:500). They were only two producers of this variant.

If M4A3E8 - then produced by Chrysler (Detroit Arsenal) - http://www.wwiivehicles.com/usa/tanks-medium/m4-production.asp
