In my father family, we have distant cousins who imigrates to USA in the early period of the 20th century, one of them came in France with is wife at several time, to meet their origin family ... At the 1st time they came, around 1950 (I wasn't born yet), they brung their car: It was the same Studebaker than this one... A picture had been shot in Bègles (by Bordeaux), in the street of my grand-mother house for this event... The Studebaker seemed to be an UFO in the landscape of Begles post WWII! ![]() Unfortunately, I have not this picture at home. They went to meet us again in 1966 (I was 8years old), but this time they rent a Hertz or Avis "stupid Renault 8" and I was very very desappointed of that ![]() |

Great story! Those Studebakers even looked strange in the USA and I can imagine how much stranger they would look on the streets of post war France. ![]() |

Bumper looks insufficiently wrapped to be a '49. Believe this to be a '48. |

Either a '47 or '48 Commander with optional bumper winguards. Commander (not Champion) since it has bright gravel guards, something non convertible Champions did not have. Bumper guards are blurry but could argue they are '48's so would leave listing as it is, except change to Regal Deluxe. |
