Apparently this is Henry Saracen's truck in the show.

Are you sure the Hilux name was used in the United States?

^ Yes until 1976 it was called the Hilux in the US. The Longbed was first available in the 1973 model year

So then it would be a 1973-1976 model?

it's a 76-78 toyota pickup. the 73-74 had the small b-pillar vent, and the fuel tank was on the driver side of the truck. 1975 had the small vent as well, but the fuel tank went to the passenger side. this one has the large vent, thus 76-78.

Are you really sure about that? the website says "Most of our readers are in the USA, where Toyota stopped calling this Truck the Hilux 1973" http://www.dailyturismo.com/2012/09/5k-1978-toyota-hilux-pickup-low-mile.html (But I'm confused, because there referring to 1978 which clearly has California plates as a Hilux :??:

Tom - for USA Toyotas, I usually reference this website:
http://www.toyotareference.com/hilux

which has this note:
*The Hilux name was not used in Toyota's sales
materials starting in 1972.5, but some trucks
still featured the Hilux badge through 1975

This is probably what TonkaTracker is referring to.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. It was really starting to confuse me.
