Looks like a 1956 Plymouth, but I couldn't find this side trim... Could it be some De Soto export version? Diplomat? Ah, I wasn't the first... -- Last edit: 2009-08-20 22:56:55 |

Oh, very good. I didn't even think about a DeSoto Diplomat. |

Tha main reason why I uploaded it, is that maybe it was assembled somewhere in Benelux. If not, I can move it to the comments. |

Yes, in that time Chrysler products were assembled in Rotterdam (Nekaf). I don't think there was a Belgian plant as well. |

There was an important Chrysler plant in Antwerp with a siege in the Napelsstraat n° 50 , Chrysler Belgium N.V. /S.A a branch of Chrysler's export division that was already operational long before the Dutch Nekaf factory , pre ww II. The Antwerp factory did assemble Plymouths , Dodge Kingsways DeSoto Diplomats , Dodge and Fargo trucks and some Chrysler models.Chrysler Belgium N.V/S.A distributed Chrysler vehicles and marine engines in Belgium , Congo ,the Grand Duchy ,but also to other european , middle east and african export markets. The dealer network in Belgium was quite complicated with separate franchise holders for Plymouth , Chryslet and Fargo ; DeSoto and DeSoto trucks; and Dodge and Dodge trucks. The car here appears a 1956 DeSoto Diplomat |
