http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?akaado16f.htm MkI (grille doesn't go under headlights) Don't think "Class: Cars, Hatchback" is right class as this car has a boot not a hatchback -- Last edit: 2006-03-04 18:31:50 |

That car was the same as our Italian badged 1964-1971 Innocenti J4-J5(1,1lt.);was built also in Spain as Authi-BLMC 1100 and in Australia as Morris Nomad 1500 OHC(with 1,5 lt.,meanwhile 1,1 or 1,3lt. of european version);that differs for the grille and the tail, lenghtened and modified with a 3rd light(in lieu of massive C-roof pillars)and was(only for Aussies!)an hatchback;1965-1973 built, was available also with automatic transmission(seems mated with 1,3 engine, but); The South-African-made BMC ADO 16 was replaced in 1971 by an strange hybrid called Austin Apache, that seems an ugly 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1800,mated with 1970 Triumph Toledo headlights and an added sprung-out trunk on the modified base of pristine BMC-'Farina Austin-Morris 1100-1300 style;but restyling was shortlived(it got also a "TC",twin-carbs 1,3 version in 1973),'cause was definitively replaced by South-African-built Austin(not Morris for Afrikaneers)Marina 1300,launched in 1978;something of similar at Austin Apache was built also in Spain such Authi-BLMC Victoria(was mfd.into same plants of Pamplona, then sold at Seat, when adventure of BLMC ends on Spain ground in the '70s) |
