Ruf styling.

Not sure it is a gt3. It has Ruf wheels and a turbo/C4S rear bumper (check louvers behind the rear wheel wells). It does have sport seats. My guess is a C4S with gt3 fixed spoiler...

C4S would have a red strip going in between the tail lights. My Dad used to own a 2004 C4S Cabriolet so I would know.

Getting the exactly correct model down for this care might seem a bit confusing as this one appears to have a slightly unusual bodywork combination that includes the factory 996.1 aero kit plus a color-matched 996 Turbo/C4S rear bumper (as denoted by the slats/openings on the side) as well as large RUF wheels. However, this 996.1 surely cannot be a mk1 GT3. Here’s why: this movie was released in 2005 and these particular scenes were filmed in Saskatchewan. Unfortunately, 996.1 GT3s were never sold in North America, and Canadians were made to wait until 2004 for their hands on a GT3 (by now a 996.2). Likewise, the release date of the film means that a 996.1 GT3 could not have been let in the country at the time of filming via Canada’s 15-year import rule. To top it all off, the 4-spoke steering wheel visible in the photos is another telling detail as those were standard on 996.1 Carreras (with a 3 spoke available as an option), but were never available on any 996 GT3 (mk1 or mk2). In fact, all 996s other than mk1 Carreras were equipped with 3-spoke steering wheels as standard.

What we’re actually dealing with here is a 1999 or 2000 model-year Carrera, as those were the only two years one could get an Arena Red 996 in North America. The black brake calipers indicate that this is a RWD C2 rather than an AWD C4. The Carrera 4 came with silver calipers instead. Please don’t let the modified bodywork fool you! This is simply a 1999 or 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera.

if the vehicle comes from US i think it can get thru the 15 years law . Not saying it is the case for this one ( and this one looks mixed up quite a bit ) but i've seen some vehicles that were available only in USA that had a Québec license plate despite being younger than 15 years

Interesting info, and thank you for sharing. In the US, there is a 25-year import rule, but I know there are workarounds too, such as the "substantially similar" clause. In some cases, if an exact model was available in the US plus another country during the same year, then it can be legally brought over. For example, if a '99 GT3 was sold in both Canada and the US, then a Canadian version can be imported to the US so long as the manufacturer (in this case Porsche) provides documentation stating that the Canadian and US versions are substantially similar, i.e. one version doesn't have wildly different engines, emissions, or safety equipment compared to the other. Sadly, this example is purely hypothetical as no 996.1 GT3s were sold in either the US or its northern neighbor.

In light of that, my original conclusion still stands because the 996.1 GT3 was not available in the US either as all of North America had to wait until ’04 to get the 996.2 version of the GT3. Plus, the 4-spoke steering wheel, Arena Red color, and black brake calipers all point to this car being a 1999 or 2000 Carrera 2.
