Just finished reading an article on this car in Australian Classic Car magazine. It is a 1927 Phantom 1. It was originally owned by silent movie star Norma Talmadge, whose husband was movie producer Joseph M. Schenck. This car has also appeared in "Shock Treatment" with Joan Crawford, "Bikini Beach Party" with Annette Funicello, and "Robin and the Seven Hoods" with Frank Sinatra, none of which are listed on IMCDb yet. It was then purchased by the current owner and brought to Australia, where it has also been used for some film work. A grand old dame of the silver screen. Another interesting fact about this car is that it was fitted with a body by Brewster & Co of Long Island NY, to an imported long wheelbase (UK) chassis, not a standard wheelbase US chassis. It cost $25,000 new at a time when a new Ford was $290 -- Last edit: 2009-07-05 23:53:28 |
