My favourite Maserati, actually.

But still looks like shrunken Quattroporte.

Low-budget-clunker Link to "suchen.mobile.de" (several overpriced among them IMHO) with worst reputation about styling and -more- reliability.

Wel, I never was able to understand that Italian-design worshipping. Especially now, when almost every car is claimed to be drawn in Italian studios. Too bad, they all looks faceless.

The Biturbo name was dropped for these later models.

But this one actually has a Biturbo badge on the back (see the 1st thumbnail)

Don't know how people can think this, it just looks like an ordinary, boxy 1980s car.

It's shrunken Quattroporte!
Far from ordinary.

For 80's Hollywood its just symbol of luxury and villains (since its not american). Dramatic car i think.

If I was an 80s Hollywood villain I'd rather choose a Mercedes S-Class.

I'm going to mention 4-porte third time..))) It was bigger, it was V8-powered, more expensive...I think it would make better symbol.

And it did.)

Maserati was more exotic. Even emblem similar to Devil's trident.

Maserati closely followed the BMW 3 [E30] template and the result was very similar - size, performance, sales success - but with a more exclusive image and price and some more quirky issues such as unreliability. They were be criticised for making unoriginal products in the Biturbo era, but they achieved the purpose of company survival until Maserati's circumstances improved. Job done.

Wiki says:

"It is number 28 in the BBC book of "Crap Cars" and is Time Magazine's worst car of 1984.

The Biturbo competed unsuccessfully in the British Touring Car Championship in the late 1980s, the European Touring Car Championship and the World Touring Car Championship (1987)."

I have that book. There are some undeserving cars in it.

They raced these in the BTCC? I did not know that. That must have been around the time the Sierra and M3 were winning everything.

Nightrider RU

2011-05-17 17:34

What undeserving cars?

Sandie SX

2011-05-17 17:39

Lancia Monte Carlo, De Lorean, MG B

Indeed having picked the book of a shelf I have found that they seemed to form their list of crap cars by asking various IMCDb members what their favourite cars were.

This really means it's part of the Top Gear brand (probably written by one of the magazine writers). Link to "www.menkind.co.uk" This will immediately render it meaningless in the eyes of many people here (particularly certain German members who have never actually watched Top Gear but don't need to because they've already made their mind up and they're sticking to it).

Despite it's iconic place in pop culture as the star of the Back to the Future trilogy, the DeLorean is supposed to be quite a lacklustre car and it was a commercial flop in its day.

Indeed: http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-6413-42126.html

Delorean is a good piece of bizarre 80s kitsch for me. It isn't crap now but it was in the 80s.
